Privacy Notice
Last updated: 23 July 2026
Intrigue8 is a one-person business run by Adam, based in Tuam, Co. Galway, Ireland, building websites and Google listings for local trades. This notice explains what personal data this site collects, why, who processes it, and your rights.
Data controller: Intrigue8 (Adam), Tuam, Co. Galway, Ireland. For any question or data request, email adam@intrigue8.ie.
What this site collects, and why
1. Contact-form enquiries. When you submit the contact form, it collects the name, business name (optional), email address or phone number, and message you enter. This is used for one purpose only: to read and reply to your enquiry. The lawful basis is the taking of steps at your request prior to any agreement (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). It is never used for marketing, and never sold or shared with anyone beyond the delivery processor named below.
2. Anonymous visit counter. This site keeps a simple running count of homepage views. For the most recent view it stores only a timestamp and your browser's user-agent string (truncated to 120 characters). It does not store your IP address, your name, or any cookie, and it does not track you across other sites or link visits together. The lawful basis is legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) in understanding roughly how many people visit. Automated bots and link-preview fetchers are excluded before counting.
3. Free audit requests. If you submit a free-audit request, this site collects your name, email, phone (optional), business name, business type, and town, and stores them so Adam can prepare an audit of your business's online presence. The audit itself checks publicly available information about your business (your Google Business listing, your website if you have one) — it does not collect anything further about you personally. Audit requests are never processed automatically end-to-end: Adam reviews every audit before anything is sent to you.

Processors we use
To run the site and deliver your message, personal data is handled by these third-party processors:
| Processor | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel (hosting & content delivery) | Serves the website | Its infrastructure logs may record IP addresses at the network level for security and abuse prevention — standard for any web host. |
| Resend (email delivery, US-based) | Transmits your form submission to Adam's inbox | The name, business, contact detail and message you enter. |
| Upstash (Redis data store) | Stores the anonymous visit counter | The view count and the timestamp + truncated user-agent of the most recent visit only. No personal identifiers. |
| Supabase (database) | Stores free-audit requests | Name, email, phone, business details you submit, and the resulting audit report. |
Some processors are based in, or transfer data to, the United States. Where that happens, transfers are protected by the safeguards in each processor's standard terms.
How long data is kept
- Enquiries: kept in Adam's email only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any resulting work, then deleted — and in any case within 12 months if no work follows.
- Free audit requests: kept to prepare and follow up on your audit, then deleted — and in any case within 12 months if no work follows.
- Visit counter: a single most-recent-view record (overwritten on each new view) plus a running total. It holds no information that identifies you.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email adam@intrigue8.ie and it will be actioned without undue delay.
If you believe your data has been handled improperly, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
